Commission confident of safe, fair polls

THE Electoral Commission is confident of delivering a free, safe and fair general election next year.
Inter-Department Election Committee chairman and Chief Secretary Isaac Lupari said the team was ready.
“We are confident of the work that the electoral commissioner has done,” he said.
“He is miles ahead of us and we are all here to support him to make sure the delivers a safe and fair election, and that he is meeting that objective to deliver this election in a cost effective manner.”
Lupari said the Government had allocated enough funding.
“For security and transport, the Government has provided K400 million in the budget. We are working as a team and making sure we know where the cost is, how we are going to manage the cost factors and how the payments are going to be rendered,” he said.
Lupari said they had 11 meetings so far.
“I can confidently say that we are  advanced in our plans,” he said.
