THE Papua New Guinea Accident Investigation Commission (AIC) is still probing into the Cessna aircraft crash on Eliptamin airstrip in West Sepik on Feb 10.
Acting AIC board chairman Captain Aria Bouraga said, in a media statement, that the Helifix Operations Ltd 208B Grand Caravan had rolled off the end of the airstrip and crashed into a drainage embankment.
“Investigations continue to determine the cause of the accident in which the four people onboard, including the pilot, did not sustain any injuries,” he said.
“The damage sustained by the aircraft during the impact was substantial.
“The nose landing gear collapsed and the propeller blades were bent.”
Bouraga said the investigation would determine the circumstances and contributing factors to ensure all safety lessons to improve aviation safety were learned.
He said all relevant information would be published in the final report of the investigation.
