Commission gets K100,000

THE Goroka development authority has come to the aid of the National Cultural Commission (NCC) with K100,000 to fund its cultural projects and programmes in the country.
Goroka MP Aiye Tambua, in presenting the funds last week, said that half the funding was for the National Film Institute and the other half was for the National Performing Arts Troupe, also known as the Raun Raun Theater.
Tambua said during the opening of the National Film Institute studio complex, that his district was also privileged to host some of the country’s important institutions such as National Film Institute, University of Goroka and National Sports Institute.
“I want to see Goroka become a big city, but we are not focused,” he said.
“We do not support key government institutions.
“There is no backing.”
Tambua urged locals to respect State properties and be hospitable to other fellow Papua New Guineans working in Goroka.
