Commission supports women

THE Integrity of Political Parties and Candidates Commission (Ippcc) is very disappointed that there are no women representation in the national Parliament.
Registrar of Political Parties Dr Alphonse Gelu said in Lae yesterday that the registry was now looking at ways to support women in politics.
“We need that to have them to be equal partners and partake effectively in the politics of this country,” he said.
“That is why we are going through each political party to try and promote the agenda: Make women become members and executives of political parties.”
Gelu said the parties would then recognise the potential they had and endorse them to contest the election.
