THE National Capital District Commission (NCDC) is looking at regulating the sale of cheap alcohol in the city.
NCD Governor Powes Parkop said the recent number of alcohol–fuelled crimes and accidents was a need for concern for all law and order stakeholders across the city.
“When I woke up after New Year, I saw broken bottles across the roads, every person that called me said there were broken bottles from cheap alcohol on the roads with fights,” he said.
He added that the broken glass was an unnecessary and hazardous task to clean up.
Parkop said the sale and consumption of alcohol was becoming a serious problem and NCDC had a responsibility to regulate the sale of such alcohol in the city.
He said this was why there was a committee set up to look at solutions to control the problem.
“The committee includes NCDC commissioners who are working on addressing the issue,” Parkop said.
