Communities put in place development plan, profile

 COMMUNITIES in West Yangoru, East Sepik, have been the first district ward council area to put in place a development plan and profile.

These communities included the Kumbuhun 1, 2 and 3.

The plan was handed to local MP and Minister for Trade Commerce and Industry Richard Maru on Monday in Kumbuhun 1.

Maru participated in the reconciliation ceremony and in the official opening of a new building that would be used to hold public meetings.

Warring leaders from 13 cleans reconciled during a public ceremony witnessed by a big crowd.

The leaders presented Maru with a traditional shell ring as a sign of peace.

The leaders promised to work with Maru for the development of their community.

Maru told the crowd he was very serious in delivering basic services that included  roads, bridges, health and education facilities, which he said must benefit the people in the district.

“I will make sure communities in the district get these basic services,” Maru said.

He said Yangoru-Saussia was looking forward to the coming of major projects that included mining, oil palm project and police barracks.

Maru said he wanted the people to think positively as these developments would bring changes to entire the district.

He announced a K150,000 funding for the Kumbuhun Primary School and a K20,000 assistance for the local elementary school.

The money would be used to build classrooms and teachers’ houses.
