A COMMUNITY in Finschhafen, Morobe, will get solar lights as part of a rural electrification programme, local MP Rainbo Paita says.
Homes in ward nine of the Yabim local level government (LLG) will have lighting after Paita announced the solar lighting programme on Monday during the launching of a limestone project at Busiga village.
He said Finschhafen had sourced K1 million worth of solar lights from China, to be distributed in the district and with priority given to project areas. Paita entrusted ward nine councillor Yase Filing with the task of counting all households in the ward.
“If a person has three houses in the village, only one house will be counted, when the list is ready, you provide it to the district so we can supply the solar lights as the lights are already in Lae. We’ll bring it over and distribute it to each household,” Paita said.
He said 14 solar lights had been allocated for Bomase Primary School from his unconditional grant.
