BUBIA Lutheran Primary School at 10-Mile in the Wampar local-level government area, Huon Gulf, received 12 cartons of blue, red yellow and green sports uniforms from Goodman Fielder International (GFI).
GFI cartage coordinator Margaret Miki told The National that the company launched a programme called “Adopt a School” and Bubia was the first recipient of the initiative.
She said 2020 was a challenging year for the company and the school but they managed to support the students’ development and teachers’ commitment.
“We’re looking forward to 2021 for a better year,” Miki said.
“The company will be doing a lot of things for the school and to start off the academic year, we are donating the sporting uniforms to them.
“We are giving 1,500 pieces of uniforms for the students to wear during their inter-house sports programme.”
Head teacher James Timping said during these times of uncertainty, they were grateful to GFI for partnering with them.
“The donation will boost the morale of the students,” he said.
“The teachers will draw up the programme that will help in the development of the students.
“The support means a lot to the school and we’re grateful for the partnership with GFI.
“We’ve seen some growth in terms of academy attainment and this is a very special partnership between the two parties.”
