Company holds on site safety activities

SAFETY at work and home is a mission for International Container Terminal Services Inc (ICTSI) South Pacific, says chief executive officer Robert Maxwell.
This was recently reinforced with the company holding activities were each department was assigned one of the fatal five safety risks identified in the terminal operating business which were:

  • Control of contractors;
  • Stored energy;
  • Transportation;
  • Suspended loads and lifting; and,
  • Working at heights.

Maxwell said all employees were trained on the different safety protocols and different safety measures to be taken when at the facility.
He added that this was then reinforced continually through safety trainings and internal workshops.
He said all visitors and business partners were required to observe and follow safety measures and practice while on site and carrying out business with ICTSI.
“Conceptually, by displaying the fatal five risks, we wanted to give all of our employees, regardless of the department a clear understanding on the types of hazards and risks there are exposed to when they are at work,” he said.
Maxwell said the company prioritised the health and safety of its workforce and all who came to the company’s facilities.
“For us, getting our employees to exercise safety as part of their daily life is indeed a mission,” he said.
“For us, safety it is a journey not a destination; it is a mindset, a behaviour rather than a set of rules that only to be applied.”
