Company opens new service station

 FRENCH company Total SA opened its first service station in the country at Badili, Port Moresby last Friday. 

Company chairman and chief executive officer Patrick Pouyanne said Total would like to have five services stations opened this year and 10 more by 2017 – in addition to the 1700 services stations Total had worldwide.

Pouyanne said apart from the upstream gas business in the country, the company would like to develop a strong commercial business in the country. 

“Today is the first service station. But by the end of 2017, we would like to have 15 services stations around Port Moresby,” he told The National.

“We have some ambitions and it’s important for us to develop this retail service station business because it is a link between our company and the customers. 

“People here may not know what Total is but if they see signs of Total, they will know. 

“We distribute petroleum products and we encourage people to come to the new Badili service station. It’s important for us to develop the service station business because it is a link between our company and the customers.”

Pouyanne said Total was an integrated oil and gas company.

“Which means we are producing oil and gas, we are transforming, and we are also distributing oil and gas products.

“In Papua New Guinea, we not only want to produce the gas, but we also would like to develop a retail network in the country.”
