LAE Secondary School received two sets of jerseys from Panamex Pacific Ltd on Friday for their Lae Football Association (LFA) teams in the Morobe capital.
Panamex national marketing and sales manager Ronald Ram told The National during the presentation that the donation was to support students in sports.
“We are trying to build different pathways for youths if they are not good academically,” he said.
“We just bring them into sports or other activities and they can then decide their future.
“Panamex has always been involved in community service and youth development, and we do a lot of donations and community projects throughout Papua New Guinea”.
“This is one of the projects that we have taken up this year to support Lae Secondary through sports.
“We are helping the men’s and the women’s teams to participate in the LFA competition.
“Panamex will be looking after the school teams in terms of jerseys, sports equipment and even their athletics carnival, we will be supporting the school in any way possible.”
Ram said Panamex would be supporting the school with “Was Was” soaps and “Softtex” products to promote hygiene among students.
“The whole idea is to engage youths in sports and other activities rather than letting them go into the communities and doing things that get them into trouble,” he said.
School principal Christopher Raymond said they were grateful for securing a sponsor for their football teams during this time when Covid-19 had affected many companies.
