I REFER to the letter for our prime minister, PNG gaming control board and the sports minister to reassess their criteria of compensating the awards to our sportsmen and sportswomen now and in the future (Aug 13).

I would like to thank Steven Kari and Dika Toua for their individual performance through their sacrifice and hard work to come this far to make Papua New Guineans proud by winning two gold medals.

Secondly, can someone tell me when PNG has won a rugby match against Australia back to colonial days as well?

From the time I went to school and know how to read books and newspapers, I can never recall a time when PNG defeated Australia.

Prime minister, PNG gaming control board and sports minister, you are trying to put a team up in the NRL within the next five years and if I am correct, we already have a team (Hunters) in the QLD Cup.

Now, where is the motivation for our young and upcoming sportsman like the under-19 who won the Commonwealth gold medal against the odds?

I understand that Steven Kari and Dika Toua have done it individually and they deserve it and please understand that there is no compromise.

But what is the difference between the Commonwealth games in Glasgow and the rugby league Commonwealth championship in Scotland?

I am appeal to the Prime Minister and his Sports Minister to compensate future Kumuls.
