Competition applicants complete workshop

 Forty-two successful applicants of an innovative business competition have undergone a two-day workshop to prepare them to pitch their business ideas to potential investors.

The applicants of the Kumul GameChangers programme were coached by Henrik Scheel, a leading entrepreneurial trainer who had done similar trainings in over 17 different countries as well as training multi-nationals such as NASA, Intel, Microsoft and Lego.

The workshop provided a specific set of modules aimed to take the innovators through a sequence that can assist them eliminate uncertainty and reduce risk for start-up.

One of the applicants, Rosemary Benjamin, said the programme provided her an opportunity to express her idea, get the training she needed to move it forward while addressing a critical need in PNG.

“Sustaining such programmes would mean better business etiquette, creation of jobs, GDP growth, and increased intellectual capital, consequently improving the livelihoods and raising the living standards of our people in PNG,” she said.

Last Sunday the group went through a team building and leadership session with Pacific Games chef de mission Richard Kassman, Nasfund chief executive Ian Tarutia, Chamber of Mines and Petroleum Women in Mining programme manager Lesley Bennett and Steamships Corporate Relations general manager David Toua, who encouraged and shared their experiences with the applicants.
