Concern over uni selection

Letters

MY daughter scored the following grades in the subjects taught while she was doing Grade 12 last year at Malala Catholic Secondary School in Bogia, Madang: language and literature – B; general mathematics – A; history – A; geography – A; legal studies – A; and, information and communication technologies – A.
She applied to study law, journalism, anthropology and psychology at the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) and her fifth choice was tourism and hospitality at Divine Word University.
However, she was not considered for any of her first four choices at UPNG.
She scored a grade point average of 3.8, which is more than the required GPA for all of the courses.
The Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology needs to come out and explain what criteria it is using to select students to UPNG.
Did all students who were selected to study at UPNG this year scored straight “As” in all their five subjects taught in Grade 12 last year?
