Consider people’s wishes before moving

Letters

THE struggle for power over the past weeks in Parliament has shown the characters our leaders that our nation has put their trust in to lead since 2017.
Some are happy about their MPs’ decisions while others are not.
Every citizen should express their sentiments about their leaders.
MPs should consider people’s views every time they want to make decisions –that is democracy at work.
In the recent saga, we heard many MPs claiming that they were doing what was right by their people, which unfortunately was not the case as many MPs had not consulted their people about the positions they took.
Some of these MPs claiming to represent their people’s wishes have not been to their electorates for months and listened to their people or attend forums in their electorates.
This leadership saga has given people the opportunity to assess each MP by their actions and words. In doing so, people have proven whether their respective MPs have acted in their interests.
People should learn how to determine what a good leader means to them and the qualities to expect from good leaders.
For me, a good leader is an optimistic leader, it is someone who fosters respect and is willing to give their best for the people and their goals.
Integrity, honesty and other good characters are reflected in everything a good leader does.
The process of delivering quality leadership starts now and not in 2022 when you are presented with large sums of cash, pigs and other materialistic things that influences choice.
The happenings of the past few weeks have shown that greed and self-interests have been put before the welfare of the people.
It is high time citizens put an end to this sort of leadership for the good of the country.
