A POLICEMAN working in Jiwaka has been locked up at the Minz Police Station after being accused of shooting his wife with a police-issued firearm last Sunday, according to police.
Jiwaka police commander Chief Insp Gideon Kauke told The National that the policeman had an argument with his wife on Sunday morning at their house.
While they were arguing, he allegedly shot her and she died.
Chief Insp Kauke said the policeman was arrested the same day and detained at the Minz station.
He said he had assigned criminal investigation division officers to investigate. “A post-mortem was done (yesterday) and police investigation is continuing,” he said.
“I also met with parents of the deceased to inform them that police were investigating the matter.”
Chief Insp Kauke said the deceased was from the Tinalapin tribe in Enga.
The couple have two children.

  • Send this cop to life years in prison with hard labor. Ensure the CIS don’t have mercy on him or release him on any circumstance. I feel sorry for the two children seeing their mother dies in the hand of their own father.

  • Very sad news, who will look after the two innocent kids????? let this stupid police man to prision for life.Police officer always thought that they own the constitutional laws and do anything they want. Now is the time that PNG are watching you Mr.SOE controller/Commissioner,you decide?????

  • Why keeping police issued firearms at home. That isn’t the work place I feel sorry for the innocent kids.

  • The devil is using our bodies to do things evil thing that we hate to do; our task is say no to sin & be partner with the Lord. In Him only is our salvation, Fortress, and our refuge. Man is made to live Heaven on earth.

  • The very sad moments for the 2 children.
What attempting him for causing this innocent death. Let justice must prevail

  • Let him be the BENCH MAARK for the Rogue cops.
We have a lot University Graduates roaming the street who can do better job than these handful of failures always painting the wrong image for the Police Department.
Send him to Baisu and put him with the big boys.

  • It’s unfortunate the kids will grow up without their mother thanks to their worthless unprofessional father. He doesn’t deserve to wear that inform.
Send him to life in prison

  • The psychological effects will affect the children severely when they grow up.

  • when will this cruelty end!
police boss need to systematically weed out this and it starts off from the recruitment!

  • A law enforcer taking the law into his own hands. Judiciary must apply full force of the law to these types of persons. Disgrace to the Force and the Community.

  • Why keep police issued firearms at home. Jiwaka police boss should be responsible for the death also.

  • 1. The Queen must remove the ‘Royal’ insignia from the Papua New Guinea Constabulary.
    2. That title was ‘earned’ by our well respected and disciplined policemen of yesteryear’s.
    3. Policemen of today do not deserve this ‘Royal’ title, they must show PNG, the region and rest of the world that ‘Royal’ title belongs to them now as well as our forefathers who ‘earned’ it.
    4. Today’s Policemen’s conduct and behaviour is at its nadir.
    5. CS I read are recruiting 25 years and over, I think the constabulary must do the same. Behavior and discipline changes with age.

  • Every time , it seems like police personnel are above the law to use access force to harm & murder fellow citizens by pulling gun triggers, gun butts, kick and punch.

  • Let the rule of law take its course in a due process. If its mean for him to send life year hard labor then its good because no one is above the law, taking the humans life is not a human being only God can give the life and take away the life..

  • Every policeman needs to be given leadership training in Domestic Violence. It doesn’t look good when a policeman who acts violently toward his wife goes into the public and arrests men who do the same thing he does.

  • There’s always two side of a coin.
If the lady had some issues that you are not happy, just tell her to leave.
Not violently abusing her and murdering her is totally wrong.

  • Send this culprit to jail for life year! That stupid cop was not supposed to be recruited as a law enforcement officer. He should know and exercise the laws accordingly but his action speaks out loud that he usually take marijuana because he can’t reason things out.

  • “Police investigating the matter”…..what are you trying to investigate?
That Cop killed his wife in cold blood, just send him straight to life in prison…end of story!

I feel for the two kids.

  • Now what will happen to the kids? Will they be taken care of by father’s side where they will see their father again and recall this incident or mothers side where their uncles will tell them their father’s bad story.

    Sorry for them

  • I agree with ones who mentioned the recruitment point and further add that the courses involved in Bomana Training should include more of Guidance and Counselling for self and those of the public. Perhaps extend the training period. Most cops are self-disciplined, but a few can not with-hold their patience/temper in extreme situations such as this one. Over to the concerned Department to reconsider the Police Training Program.
