A POLICEMAN was found guilty by the Waigani National Court of killing a man with a wheel spanner outside a Port Moresby nightclub in 2016.
Stanley Kilip’s lawyer will make submissions on his sentence on June 18 after Justice George Manuhu convicted him for the murder of Robert Giwar, from East Sepik, on Feb 7, 2016. Kilip is from Western Highlands.
The State presented an indictment that Kilip on Feb 7 between 4am and 5am was involved in a fight with Giwar outside the club.
The court heard that Kilip grabbed the deceased by the shirt and knocked him down.
He fell on the concrete head down and Kilip continuously kicked and punched him.
Giwar was unconscious when Kilip used a wheel spanner to hit him hard on the head.
Giwar was pronounced dead after he was taken to the hospital the same day.
Kilip was remanded after the ruling yesterday and was later escorted to Bomana prison.
