Cops must be neutral when addressing crime
The National, Thursday February 13th, 2014
LAW enforcing agencies such as the police must perform their duty without fear or favour.
Often, many offences reported are not dealt with a sense of duty or care.
The police may try to evade certain cases or immediate attention is given due to their acquaintance with a victim.
It may not appear as taking sides by the police when a family violence case is reported, but the victim continues to suffer.
It is not fair as the police is supposed to take a neutral position.
I have seen and heard of such attitudes being shown to victims of crimes and it is a total disgrace to those who are entrusted to provide protection and uphold the rule of the law.
If this is the spirit of policing in a vibrant, democratic country like PNG, then every citizen of this country must be extra careful as you could be next to face this dilemma.
Every person in PNG has the right to be treated justly and constitutionally.
So, please be fair to every victim and maintain your neutrality.
