Corporate snooker cues off tonight

THE 2019 Port Moresby Snooker and Billiards corporate snooker competition cues off today with six teams in the premier division, with reigning champions Lamana One back to defend their title.
All games will be played on Wednesday nights at three venues: The Aviat, Port Moresby Country Club and Lamana Hotel Q Club snooker room.
POMBSA president John Chan, pictured, thanked the clubs for showing their support to the sport by allowing the use of their snooker facilities for the competition.
Chan added that Street Scene had come on board as a sponsor.
“Street Scene has again come on board as a sponsor allowing teams to purchase their uniforms have their embroidery done at a special rate and we’re grateful to Street Scene for that support.”
The 2019 POM Corp Snooker Comp will have teams with a maximum of 10 players and matches will be five singles best-of-three frames and two six red doubles also best-of -three frames.
Winning teams get three points and a draw gets them a point.
The competition will have three rounds.
The Port Moresby Open is scheduled for the Easter long weekend starting April 18-21.
All matches will be played at The Aviat, Port Moresby Country Club and Q Club.
Chan said the POM Open was a ranking event and only for affiliated players.
“As with previous tournaments we are looking at the majority of the entries to come from the POMBSA premier grade ranks but welcome affiliated male and female players from the lower divisions.
Port Moresby-based players must pay their affiliation along with their nomination fees to POMBSA: player nomination fee — K150; POMBSA affiliation fee — K50.
