Rodney Sumale, the director of the Smec corporate affairs division, said they would carry out the business and MSME development through training, business development and advisory support services to the people of Imbonggu.
“The MoU is for three years only. It is not a contract, but is built on goodwill and binding in honour only,” he said.
Sumale the SYB-ME trainins was facilitated by network partners trained by Smec but supervised by the master trainer from Smec Edward Kepa.
The 32 participants received certificates – 29 existing SMEs and three start-ups.
“Eight participants’ businesses were formalised during the training and 25 (14 men and 11 women) opened bank accounts with Mi-Bank.”
Imbonggu MP Pila Niningi said the district would work with the SME Corporation on the MoU.
Niningi committed K500,000 to MiBank and the National Development Bank as startup capital for the trained MSMEs to access.
