Correct information needed for Covid-19 test: Doc

PEOPLE should ensure that the correct information is given to workers at the Covid-19 testing locations in the country, an official says.
National Control Centre (NCC) incident manager Dr Daoni Esorom said many people were being tested and it was incumbent upon them to provide accurate contact details, specifically phone numbers.
He said 60 per cent of the case investigation forms (CIF) lacked a correct phone number which made it difficult for officers to contact those that went in for testing to relay the results.
“People are not putting their numbers or putting a wrong number as sometimes it is engaged or it doesn’t ring at all,” he said.
“That is one of our major challenges.
“I appeal to the people to put a reliable contact details; a phone number or an office number.”
Dr Esorom stressed that due to the high numbers of samples collected, people needed to follow up on their results.
“You don’t have to expect Rita Flynn to call you, you have to actively follow up.
“Some people will need the clearance certificate to return to work or travel, so you have to follow up.” Dr Esorom added that some companies required their employees who came into contact with a person infected with the Covid-19 to be quarantined at home for the mandatory 14 days.
“The companies are just adhering to the guidelines that we have given to them,” he said.
He said after the 14 days of quarantine, the person could return to work.
