USINO local level government council (LLG) president Peiwa Aimai has urged councillors and village leaders to take the lead to get themselves vaccinated for the Coronavirus (Covid-19).
“Although vaccination is voluntary, it is my humble call to community leaders, particularly ward members and village leaders, to show leadership to get vaccinated,” he said.
“When you do so, your communities will follow you.”
After getting his jab at the Modilon General Hospital yesterday, Aimai said he was concerned with the huge number of workers from Eastern Highlands and Morobe going to work in Ramu.
“Usino is the largest LLG in Madang sharing borders with Eastern Highlands and Morobe,” he said.
“Since there is no lockdown, there are possibilities for infected people in those two provinces sneaking in seeking refuge and comfort.
“We need to rethink and change our strategy to prevent the spread since the virus is spreading fast nationwide.”
