Westpac will conduct two introduction to financial management courses to help small-to-medium entrepreneurs make effective financial decisions next week.

Andy Roberts, a Sydney-based facilitator, who specialises in educating Westpac’s own business bankers and SME customers, will conduct each four-day courses.

Westpac’s head of retail banking Adam Downie said the bank was offering the courses to their business customers in the spirit of partnership and adding value to their businesses.

“Feedback from previous course participants has been fantastic as the workshop provides good practical skills.

“Westpac is delighted to have secured the services of Andy Roberts to run these two courses next week,” Downie said.

“So many businesses fail because their owners, while passionate about their business, struggle to get their heads around the financial aspects.

“This is one of the leading causes of business failure and one of the reasons we’re offering these courses,” he added.

Topics in the workshop will  cover financial statements, analysis of financial performances, key areas to improve profit and cash, profit planning and cash budgeting, improving cash flow and banking products and services to help grow business
