A MAN has been found guilty by the Kokopo National Court in East New Britain of raping a 15-year-old girl in 2011.
The man, a relative of the girl, had lured her to his workplace on the afternoon of June 30, 2011.
He poured alcohol into her mouth and raped her in a warehouse.
Acting Judge David Susame said: “There is no doubt the accused is guilty of the charge.”
Justice Susame said he did not believe the story the accused used as his defence.
According to the complainant (now 22), on the day mentioned, the accused, who is the biological brother of the her grandfather, picked her up at the Anderson’s Supermarket at around 4pm and took her to his workplace to pick up his mobile phone before taking her home.
The victim had been waiting to catch a PMV to her village where she lived with her parents.
At Takubar, the accused and the girl met another man, who was a stranger to the girl.
The accused and the stranger forced her into a warehouse.
