A MAN was fined K1,000 by a Lae district court in default six months’ jail with light labour at Buimo for possession of dangerous drug – marijuana.
Magistrate Jacinta Doa fined Pilimon Ano, 25, from Nawaeb’s Sakaren village, after he pleaded guilty to possession of 28 K1 rolls of the drug.
Magistrate Doa warned and cautioned Doa, saying drug-related crimes had been on the rise and there were other ways to earn money.
“In selling marijuana you are contributing to destroy our society, marijuana has lately become a major issue in our communities and the government has already amended laws to penalise drug-related offenders,” she said.
“Let this be a warning to you and don’t ever commit the same offence again, pay your fine or go up to Buimo.”
