A MOTHER of three was convicted, warned not to buy stolen goods and released from police custody after she spent two weeks in the cell.
Mt Hagen District Court warned Rosli Sigi, who lives at Hagen Metal Industry (HMI) at Warakum, Mt Hagen, not to buy stolen properties and promote criminal activities.
Senior magistrate Betty Jacob told Sigi on Friday that she was promoting criminal activities when she allegedly bought stolen sausage rolls from criminals.
“If people like Sigi stopped buying stolen properties, criminals will find it hard to steal and sell their stolen goods to the people,” Jacob said.
Police alleged that on Dec 30, Sigi was found with 10kg of sausage rolls at HMI and arrested.
Police told the court that the sausage rolls were the stolen property of Highlands Butchery located at HMI area.
Police alleged that six men armed with a gun and bush knives, held up two security guards on night duty at Highlands Butchery.
Police claimed that the armed men went into the storage container of Highlands Butchery and removed some cartons of sausages and other frozen goods.
Police alleged that more than K41,000 worth of goods were stolen from the butchery.
Sigi, who appeared on Friday, told the court that she didn’t know they were stolen.
“Some boys bring the 10kg of sausages rolls and sold it to me for K30 so I bought it from them,” she told the court.
She said she didn’t steal and didn’t know where the boys had got the sausage roll from.
She said that she had spent two weeks in the Mt Hagen police cell.
Jacob convicted her and discharged her from police custody.
