Covid-19 tests to resume

THE collection of samples by the National Capital District (NCD) clinics for Covid-19 testing which had stopped for a couple of months will resume, an official says.
The capital city’s health authority acting chief executive officer Ken Wai said they planned to open all urban clinics in the city to triage and swab all severe acute respiratory infection (Sari) cases from this week.
A member of the staff at Rita Flynn Covid-19 facility told The National earlier that they stopped working because they were not paid.
Staff from the urban clinics mentioned that they stopped swabbing because of the lack of risk and overtime allowances.
Wai was responding to questions by The National regarding the Rita Flynn not operating fully and NCD clinics not doing swabbing for Covid-19 testing.
“There were huge bills of up to K5.5 million incurred by Rita Flynn and other clinics in short-term employment, car hires and other operational costs,” he said.

  • Government committed hundreds of millions of Kina towards Covid 19. Do we know how and where all those funds were spent?
