The City Pharmacy Ltd Group has come to the aid of the Papua New Guinea Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry by providing office spaces as part of its “corporate social responsibility”.

Chamber president Avia Koisen said the spaces would be used as their business centre.

“We had difficulty in carrying out our programme,” she said.

“Now we have a stable place to operate.”

Koisen thanked CPL.

The office is at the Waigani Central Complex.

CPL’s Corporate Services manager Marlene Dutta said CPL was more than happy to assist the chamber.

“As an ardent supporter of women’s issues, we are here to give our full support to the work that you do.” Dutta said.

CPL has a long history of engagement with women empowerment programmes.

The most popular one is the Pride of  Papua New Guinea Awards for Women, a flagship initiative aimed at honouring ordinary PNG women doing extraordinary things.

It was introduced in 2007.

CPL was also one of the first corporate entities supporting the Meri Seif Ples programme when it was launched.

It supported the programmes of Business Professional Women’s Club. The longest sports sponsorship is the all-female City Pharmacy Rebels Netball Club team.
