IN just under a month since its opening, Jack’s of PNG has reported a turnover of more than K1 million, City Pharmacy Ltd (CPL) Group chief executive officer Ravi Singh (pictured) says.

The retail business is the group’s partnership with Jack’s of Fiji.

Jack’s of PNG carries specialty brands like Rip Curl and sells mid-priced brand-name apparel, accessories, cosmetics, gifts, jewellery and shoes.

Prices of items were on par with that of Fiji because of the trade agreement among Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) member nations.

Singh yesterday said the group has plans to set up three more Jacks retail outlets in Port Moresby before venturing into other regions.

“CPL is becoming truly a multi-format retailer, apart from supermarkets, hardware and pharmacy; we have gone into Jack’s clothing store which has been a great success,” he said.

“We (CPL) intend to open more stores (Jack’s of PNG) in the country, we are looking at 2-3 more stores in Port Moresby then go into regional centres.

“We have won the contract for duty free stores at the Jackson (International) airport; the brand to trade is Prouds.

“There is potential not to operate just as a duty free, to have Prouds stores in Port Moresby where same merchandise at the duty free shops after duty being charged will be available at city Prouds store.

“Prouds will be a standalone store and have its own identity; it would not be housed in CPL shops,” he said.
