CRICKET Papua New Guinea and Capital Insurance Group have signed an insurance partnership yesterday in Port Moresby which would see the federation receive insurance for the next twelve months.
Capital Insurance chief executive officer Jeremy Norton said they shared the same values with Cricket PNG and they were happy to continue the relationship.
“We’re a Papua New Guinean company and we get behind teams that represent the country,” Norton said.
“We value health and well-being in the community and the PNG Barramundis and Lewas are great role models for the community with the examples the teams set.
“So we are pleased to partner with Cricket PNG for another year.”
Cricket PNG chief executive Greg Campbell thanked Capital Insurance for enabling the national teams to receive insurance.
“This sponsorship is important to Cricket PNG as it allows us to comply with the International Cricket Council regulations,” said Campbell.
“Thank you to Capital Insurance for supporting our national teams.”
Barramundis skipper Assad Vala said the partnership was very timely as the national teams were preparing for international tournaments.
“We can’t compete at ICC events if we do not have insurance so this partnership is very important, “ Vala told The National last night.
“We leave our families and compete far away from home so to have insurance is comforting to us players as we do not know what can happen to us while we’re away for tours.
“We’re grateful for this support and we look forward to representing the country in future tournaments.” This would be the third year of the partnership between the two parties.
