PORT Moresby’s Kumul Petroleum National Soccer League (NSL) triple-header tomorrow will see the return of spectators at Papua New Guinea Football Stadium with organisers estimating between 1,500 and 2,000 fans to attend the final round of the regular season.
“We’re expecting a big turnout but we’ll not exceed more than 2000 people because we still have to consider space and the orders we’ve been given by the national pandemic controller,” NSL manager Dimirit Mileng told The National yesterday.
“This will be the first time for us to have spectators under the new protocols of the game and I’m thankful to our management for getting the approval for the return of crowds.
“The coronavirus is here to stay so we all have to exercise the precautionary measures to minimise its spread.
“Fans are an integral part of any competition and denying them access is not what football is all about.
“So we are happy that they can now return to watch NSL matches in Port Moresby.”
Mileng said there would be two tickets booths near the Sir John Guise Stadium Indoor Complex (opposite Vision City) with a separate point of entry for spectators.
He said tickets would be sold for K10 (grandstand) and K5 (outerstand).
Mileng said all spectators would undergo mandatory temperature checks before entering and urged fans to adhere to the sitting arrangements made inside the venue to observe social distancing.
Mileng said spectators would also be required to wear face masks while they were inside the stadium. Fixtures: Sat, Sept 26 – Tusbab Stallions v Hekari United, Bougainville v Morobe Wawens, Kutubu v Morobe United, Star Mountain v Gulf Komara, Vitiaz United v Lae City.
