Russell Crowe, recalled breaking both of his legs while filming a scene for his 2010 movie Robin Hood.
During a recent interview with People magazine, the 59-year-old actor revealed that he was unaware he had fractured his legs until a decade after what he initially thought was a “small mishap” on the set of the action film.
“I jumped off a castle portcullis onto rock-hard uneven ground,” Crowe told the outlet. “We should have prepped the ground and buried a pad, but we were in a rush to get the shot done in the fading light.”
The Academy Award winner remembered becoming concerned about the set-up of the stunt moments ahead of jumping.
“With hundreds of extras around, arrows flying and burn pots setting the castle on fire, there was no pulling out,” Crowe said. “As I jumped, I remember thinking, ‘This is going to hurt.’”
The New Zealand native told People that he was trying to land on the balls of his feet to better absorb the impact. However, Crowe recalled feeling his heels hit the ground first when he landed.
“It was like an electric shock bursting up through my body,” Crowe said. “We were shooting a big movie, so you just struggle through, but the last month of that job was very tricky. There was a number of weeks where even walking was a challenge.”
Despite the lingering pain, Crowe continued shooting Robin Hood. He told People that he “never discussed the injury with production, never took a day off because of it, I just kept going to work.”
Crowe recalled that he began experiencing “very strange pains” in his lower legs and decided to consult a doctor where he underwent an MRI and X-ray imaging exams.
“I thought it was nothing serious,” he told People. “After working through a long New York winter, my body was just missing exercise and sunshine.”
However, Crowe said he was shocked when his doctor looked at the X-rays and then asked him when he had broken his legs.
“Apparently he could see the remnants of fractures in both shinbones,” Crowe remembered. “To jog my memory he said, ‘Would it have been maybe 10 years ago?’”
Crowe said that he instantly remembered the incident that had occurred on the set of Robin Hood.
“Apparently I finished that movie with two broken legs,” he noted. “All for art. No cast, no splints, no painkillers, just kept going to work and over time they healed themselves.”
The actor realised in hindsight that he had taken a year off after finishing production on Robin Hood. He didn’t work again until taking on the role of Jor-El, the father of Superman in the 2013 movie Man of Steel.
“In retrospect I obviously knew something was wrong,” Crowe said.
He continued, “To be the Kryptonian father of Superman was six months of incredibly intense physical training. Between the time off and that training, things fixed themselves.”

Crowe played the titular character in Robin Hood, a retelling of the legendary outlaw’s story that was directed by Ridley Scott and also starred Cate Blanchett, William Hurt, Mark Strong, Mark Addy, Oscar Isaac, Danny Huston, Eileen Atkins, and Max von Sydow.
The two-time Golden Globe winner is currently starring as a US Air Force drone pilot in the new action thriller Land of Bad alongside Liam Hemsworth, Luke Hemsworth, Ricky Whittle, and Milo Ventimiglia. – Fox News

Jodie recalls terrifying moment on set when a lion ‘shook me in his mouth’
Jodie Foster

Acting professionally since she was a child, Jodie Foster, pictured, has accumulated a litany of interesting stories from her time on various sets.
During a recent appearance on The Graham Norton Show, the 61-year-old actress spoke about a scary incident that took place during one of her earliest projects, Napoleon and Samantha, reports Fox News.
The film follows a young boy and girl on their dangerous trek up a mountain alongside their pet lion, Major, a reformed circus animal.
Foster, who was nine at the time, said there were three large cats on set: the star lion, a stunt lion and a stand-in lion.
“I was working with the stand-in lion and I guess he had a little piano wire that was pulling him,” explained the actress, who currently stars on True Detective: Night Country, which is airing now on BINGE.
“We finished the take and I was going up the hill and all I remember is I remember seeing his mane come around and then he picked me up sideways, and shook me in his mouth and turned me around,” she shared, much to the horror of fellow guest Olivia Coleman.
“And every single person on the crew was running in the opposite direction and I’m like sideways, watching everybody – and they took their equipment, too!
“And I’m watching everybody leave, going like, ‘What’s happening?’… I remember feeling like, ‘Oh it’s an earthquake!’ because I was getting shaken,” she added.
“The trainer said ‘Drop it’ and because the lion was so well-trained he opened his mouth and dropped me down.”
“And I went running,” Foster said, gesticulating that she rolled down the hill. Although disciplined, the lion was not done with Foster. – Fox News

Friends fans shocked after Perry is snubbed from segment
Matthew Perry

The organisers of the BAFTAs are facing backlash after its 2024 ceremony inadvertently snubbed Matthew Perry, pictured.
The Friends star, who died in October 2023 at age 54, was absent from the EE BAFTA Film Awards’ In Memoriam segment this week, reports Page Six.
Perry, who was best known for his role in Friends, was also a movie actor who starred in films like 17 Again and The Whole Nine Yards. After the tribute — set to Cyndi Lauper’s Time After Time — concluded, fans of the late actor jumped on X and slammed the academy. One X user even posted a GIF of Perry’s Friends character, Chandler Bing, saying, “You can’t make this stuff up.”
Responding to Perry’s absence from the tribute, BAFTA tweeted, “Matthew Perry will be remembered in this year’s TV Awards ceremony,” and shared a link to the academy’s online tribute to the actor. Perry was found dead at his Los Angeles home on October 28. His cause of death was later determined to be due to acute effects of ketamine. – Page Six

Usher speaks out on Bieber not joining Super Bowl halftime
Usher and Justin Bieber.

Usher is addressing the speculation that he asked Justin Bieber to join him during the Super Bowl halftime show.
During an interview with The Breakfast Club on Friday, the singer confirmed that he did reach out to Bieber about an appearance but said that the two weren’t able to join forces onstage.
“It didn’t work out with Justin. I honor and recognize that, my brother. I think that it might’ve been the fact that he’s just wanting to tell a different story right now. And I understand that,” he explained.
He went on to share that the two did “have a brief conversation” and even though the stars didn’t align for a halftime show collaboration, “We’re gonna do something else in the future. No love lost or anything like that. It’s a lot of pressure for the Super Bowl, obviously,” Usher added.
He also predicted that Bieber will headline the halftime show eventually. “I profess that over his life. He has a career that deserves it. It didn’t happen, but that doesn’t mean it’s not going to,” Usher said. – THR
