CS to female officers: Follow process in addressing grievances

Main Stories

FEMALE Correctional Service (CS) officers working at the CS headquarters in Port Moresby were told to bring their concerns regarding their employment to the management by following the right channel of communication and not to post on social media.
CS acting assistance commissioner of personnel and finance administration Patty Kore said such actions were attention seeking and would only leave the department open to unqualified and at times vile criticisms.
Kore said this to female officers who gathered to acknowledge National Women’s Day yesterday.
She said following proper departmental procedure when raising grievances and concerns would ensure good management and due process. Kore also encouraged the officers to address issues in their work place with humility.
Correctional Services Commissioner Steven Pokanis told them that female CS officers were given priority in the Correctional Services department in terms of promotions and training.
Pokanis said he expected a level of professionalism and competency from them.
He also told CS officers to commit themselves in prayer during this time when the world was struggling to fight the spread of the deadly coronavirus.
