PEOPLE turned up in numbers to open their accounts with the Kina Bank in Port Moresby on Friday.
Kina branch distribution manager Judith Ugave-Taunau said this was because the bank was receiving a high demand for its services in Port Moresby.
Ugave-Taunau said they had to close the Cameron branch in Port Moresby to register new customers.
She said both the personal and business accounts were opened with identification cards using digital applications at the branch or through online applications process.
“Because of the high number of demand in Port Moresby, we closed our Cameron branch to open new accounts, and to provide a fast and good service,” she said.
She said once the customers got their bank cards, they would be registered digitally to see their statement free on internet, WhatsApp, and Kina Connect (short message Service) banking.
She said Kina was improving its services and welcomed feedback from customers on how to improve and deliver services.
Martin Kuriwai, 21, from Chimbu, who opened his account on Friday, said he had an account with another bank but heard that the Kina service was faster.
Kuriwai had registered with the bank’s internet, mobile banking and got a visa debit card the same day.
He would use his visa card to buy things online.

  • Open mine too. Got my VISA card same day. The rest of the services like, SMS Banking, Internet Banking, WhatsApp Banking, etc, all did online Kina Bank Portol. Unbelievable, beats standing in line for only one service.
