KIMBE Cutters say they are hoping for a spot in the Digicel Cup top-six with six rounds remaining before the finals.
The Cutters got off to a poor start in their campaign, recording six straight losses since round one.
But the Lucas Samak-coached side bounced back in round seven and have since recorded four wins from five games.
The Cutters’ most recent win was against Port Moresby Vipers in round 11 at Sir Peter Humphrey Oval in Kimbe where they won 20-14.
Franchise manager Freddie Kumai told The National yesterday that the Cutters would play have four home games and just two away matches before the finals.
“We are just two points outside the top-six and we have four home games which is a big plus for us,” he said.
“Our main focus now is to win all our home games to make the top-six.
“We didn’t start well in the season, but after the coach made a few changes to the line-up, we produced consecutive wins before the competition went into a recess due to the general election.”
Kumai said the club had allowed their imports to cast their votes in their home provinces.
He said the side would resume training next week in preparation for their round-12 clash with ladder-leading Mendi Muruks on July 23.
“The players who returned to their home provinces to cast their votes, are arriving later this week,” Kumai said. “So we will focus on preparing well for the Muruks.
“This is an important game for us as we want to spring an upset.
“If we can overcome the Muruks then it would boost our confidence.”
