Cyber-security training vital: Specialist

CYBER security experts in organisations should be trained to deal with trending cyber threats, says Asia Pacific Network Information Centre internet security specialist Adli Wahid.
Wahid told a Pacific Islands Telecommunications Association business forum in Port Moresby this week that business houses should at least put profit aside and deal with cyber threats.
“We hear of ransomeware, malware, and most people will go yeah,” he said.
“But I think the problem is huge, especially in the Pacific where we have seen a huge rise in incidents, both published and unpublished.”
He added that the topic was complicated.
“Many organisations are struggling, not with the issue itself, but with the people dealing with these issues,” he said.
“So you have security practitioners and engineers who are new to the field, and are playing catch-up on different areas.”
