CENTRAL Dabaris, in partnership with the provincial government, yesterday launched their 2021 jerseys as they gear up for the upcoming Digicel Cup season.
Central Governor Robert Agarobe reaffirmed his government’s support for the Dabaris with the club to play an important role in his provincial plan.
“It has been a collective effort to put institutions together to represent the province,” he said.
“Dabaris is one of those institutions we’ve set up to be in line with the provincial plan on agriculture, tourism and sports.
“We’ve really stepped up our efforts on player incentives and we want to push for the opportunity to have some of our players get a second chance at education while playing for us.
“It’s a structure that we want to have that’s a lot more than rugby league that our youths can come through and see a life after rugby league.”
Meanwhile, Dabaris chairman Solomon Damena said the club had one of its best pre-seasons so far under coach Gairo Pepena.
“Preparations for the 2021 season have been outstanding,” he said.
“This is our flagship team of the province and in these uncertain times amid the Covid-19 situation in the country, the franchise will try to manage as best as possible how we prepare for the season.
“Since October, our players have been preparing well and we give credit to our coaching staff.
