CENTRAL Dabaris and Port Moresby Strikers will be on the hunt for consecutive wins in round four of the National Soccer League (NSL) in Port Moresby tomorrow.
After bagging their first win of the season against Star Mountain last week, the Strikers face Tavur in the opening match of the Southern Conference triple-header at Papua New Guinea Football Stadium (11pm kick-off). The Strikers, with PNG international goalkeeper Ishmael Pole and midfielder Patrick Aisa in their line-up, will be looking to find their composure in attack when they meet skipper Cyril Roka and his men from Tavur.
“The most important issue for us now is to prevent broken play,” Strikers coach Philemon Tamari said.
“We’re not stringing passes and finding our targets.
“Instead, we tend to pass to our opponents.
“There’s still room for improvement.
“We’d love to play a passing game and that’s our style of football.”
The second match will see the Dabaris aim for their third-straight win when they meet Southern Youth (1pm kick-off).
Dabaris goal-scoring machine Iga Kala will be featuring in the forwards with coach Kila Babaga noting a need for a better transition from defence to attack.
“The earlier we get out of our half and transition into attack, the more space we create to score more goals,” Babaga said.
“It’s something we’re still working on and we’d like to make more progress as the season progresses.”
The main clash will see winless Star Mountain face Gulf Komara while conference leaders Hekari United are on a bye.
