Dart League to host champion clubs challenge in Lae

The Papua New Guinea Dart League Inc (PNGDL) is hosting a regional champion clubs challenge in Lae from July 20-23.
In a statement, PNGDL said all dart associations in districts and provinces were encouraged to participate.
PNGDL said it was expecting the bulk of the teams from associations in Lae, Bulolo, Ramu and Madang.
With the association affiliation waived, each team is required to pay K400 affiliation and player registration of K50 per head for the challenge.
PNGDL will later stage an inter-association challenge from which players will be ranked to participate in an open masters challenge next year.
PNGDL said its aim was to be affiliated with the PNG Olympic Committee and World Darts Federation in order to send representatives to Asia dart challenges and the World Cup.
The first step has been accomplished, and that is having to become a registered dart organisation within Papua New Guinea.
PNGDL is going to host tournaments and the attainment from those tournaments is that all participating players will earn ranking points to have a ranking chart of dart within PNG, where at this stage, there is no such material existing in the country.
PNGDL caretaker president Nigel Kiaka said such approach was crucial for use in selection for off-shore representations.
PNGDL said it was looking at building profiles for its members to create competition among dart players.
“There are further plans to improve the outlook of the game but we need to first get things started,” the statement said.
“Invitation is extended to those who are looking.
“PNGDL will build a website where its members can find and collect necessary information.
“Should there be any queries, please email PNG Dart League on [email protected].”
