BARRAMUNDIS head coach Joe Dawes is keen on arranging for Papua New Guinea internationals to take part in Australian cricket competitions ahead of the international season next year.
“We are constantly investigating when we can get players into Australia and will look to send as many as we can, hopefully after Christmas,” he told The National.
“Both squads are in an off season phase and have been concentrating on the strength and conditioning phase in preparation for next year.
“We are seeing some great progress and personal bests among the representative players, so that’s a bonus.”
Dawes is concentrating on high performance training with majority of international cricket matches cancelled this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, Cricket Papua New Guinea chief executive Greg Campbell said last month that having the Barramundis compete in Australia would help prepare them for next year’s T20 World Cup.
The majority of representative players are competing in the Port Moresby Cricket Association competition.
