DEATH threats made to a Lae City Authority official are being investigated, a senior police officer says.
Lae Met Supt Chief Insp Chris Kunyanban said police received a complaint and were working to identify those involved in threatening LCS chief executive officer Neil Ellery.
“Whoever this is threatening officials, police are on it and will make an arrest soon,” Chief Insp Kunyanban said.
He cautioned the public that under the Cyber Crime Act, those who used social media, phone calls or text messaging to post threats or do anything that puts others under threat would be dealt with accordingly.
Chief Insp Kunyanban called on whoever involved to surrender immediately before police caught up with them.
Ellery asked anyone with information to come forward or call 72230578.
“All calls received will be treated with confidentially and names will not be released. And if this leads to the successful arrest of the perpetrator, a reward will be given,” he said.
Ellery condemned the action of those who were sending death threats to his wife and family.
