A COMMITTAL court has issued an arrest warrant for a Bank South Pacific Financial Group Ltd employee, charged with defamatory publication, for failing to attend four consecutive court hearings.
Magistrate Albert Daniels issued the warrant of arrest for Alice Sambusi, 26, from Kofika village, Goroka, Eastern Highlands.
Police prosecutor Christian Iga informed the court that Sambusi was out on a bail of K500.
“She first appeared in court on Oct 6, 2022, but failed to appear four times after she was arraigned,” he told the court.
The case was adjourned to April 10 for review.
It was alleged that on March 18, 2022, at 12pm, Sambusi had used her Facebook account to post defamatory comments.
Sambusi had posted on the complainant’s colleague Raboan Bogen’s Facebook wall as quoted: “Joel Kosinto just told me he will blow my head and get my son over my dead body after he chased us out of the house last afternoon at Sabama on Feb 28, 2022.
“Just want the public to know about my status. Please share.”
It was alleged that on the following day, on March 19, at 10am, the defendant went again on Facebook and posted the complainant’s work identification card (ID) that expired on Dec 18, 2018.
It was alleged that the defendant had posted with the caption: “This person threatened me twice. If anything happens, my family and friends need to know this.”
It was further alleged that the complainant was alerted the same day about the defendant’s post and had felt that his safety and security were under threat on the eve of General Election 2022.
