THE Papua New Guinea Defence Force Commander Major-General Mark Goina says PNG, like other Pacific countries, benefits from the combined joint training (CJT) from bilateral partners.
Goina, who was a panelist during a Land Forces of the Pacific Symposium and Exposition in Hawaii last week, said there were a series of presentations on operations and training and how they can collaborate better to ensure there is peace and stability in the region and throughout the world.
He spoke on the importance of the CJT and the recent support received from the US, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand in preparations for the general election.
“They supported us to provide the Mission Specific Training here both in Taurama, Goldie (Port Moresby) and in Moem Barracks (Wewak).”
The symposium also served as a catalyst for discussion on individual perspectives, common challenges and collective opportunities where senior military leaders of 26 countries within the region of Indo-Pacific attended including Australia, NZ, UK, Japan, Germany, Israel and Canada.
