Prime Minister Peter O’Neill said his government still has more to do in terms of delivering basic services.
O’Neill said even though the Government had done a lot in the last five years, there were still more to be done.
“We are able to deliver basic services to the people throughout the country and that is an achievement that we have to be proud of as a government,” he said.
O’Neill made these comments when giving the keynote address at a fundraising dinner for the United Resources Party in the National Capital District on Saturday.
“I would like to thank the United Resources Party for their strong support with other coalition partners, National Alliance Party and other smaller parties that they have extended to Peoples National Congress Party (PNC) for us to continuously have a stable government for the past five years,” O’Neill said.
“We have a government that is able to deliver to the commitments that we have made.
“For instance free education. Many leaders and governments in the past have gone into elections promising the nation free and quality education for our children but they have never delivered.
“This government stands proud that over the past four or five years we have been fully funding education in the country,” he said.
He said the Government had also been funding the health services, law and order services and infrastructure developments in the country.
“I know we have achieved a lot over the past five years but we are not there yet.
“That is why we must show stability in policies and government and I can assure you that this government has broken the record of its performance over the past five years.”
United Resources Party leader William Duma acknowledged the comments by prime minister and expressed his support towards PNC. “United Resources Party is a small party but it has always proved to be reliable and consistent in its dealings  with governments that it has served under,” Duma said.
“United Resource Party remains committed in serving the Government of the day.”
