A ONE-day free dental and optical checks was conducted last Wednesday at Dental Haus and Morobe Optical Clinic in Lae.
Dr Manuel Vincent Satorre, from Dental Haus, said it was the first time they had carried out such a programme.
“This is the first of its kind that Dental Haus partnered with Morobe Optics under the Rotary Club medical mission to carry out free checks,” Satorre said.
He said dental checks included tooth-filling, dental removal and dental cleaning for both adults and children.
“We got 50 patients for dental and optical checks – both adults and children – who came in under the Lae Catholic Diocese.”
Satorre said that they got interested candidates for free dental and optical from the Lae Catholic diocese. He explained that for those who came in for the optical checks, their results were sent to the Australian Rotary Club that would provide glasses.
Satorre acknowledged partners such as Chemcare Group Limited for donating medicines such as multivitamins that enabled the programme to run through to the end.
The Australian Rotary Club is part of an international organisation committed to solving real problems in areas such as literacy, peace, water, health, education, local economies, and environmental protection.
Their mission is to provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through their fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.
