Dept concludes media workshop

SIXTEEN participants were awarded certificates for attending the Department of Community Development, Youth and Religion’s communicate for development media sensitisation workshop in Port Moresby recently.
The workshop was held to educate media personnel and development partners to perceive community development through the department’s standpoint which is to communicate for development.
Community Development, Youth and Religion Minister Wake Goi said at the closing of the workshop that there was a lot to learn as the new minister and commended the department for the restructure and new policies developed in the recent years.
Goi invited the media industry and developing partners to support the department to deal with social issues affecting people at all levels of the community through advocacy and awareness.
He said the flagship programme that the department was rolling out, the District Community Development Centres was a great initiative that would bring the department and other organisations closer to people in remote parts of PNG.
