Dept mourns Sir Michael’s passing

ON behalf of the officers of the Education Department, the Teaching Service Commission, the Office of Libraries and Archives, more than two million students and 60,000 teachers in the national education system, I offer our sincere condolences to the immediate family and the people of East Sepik on the passing of late Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare.
Papua New Guinea is in deep mourning.
We have lost our father, the man who played the key role in our young nation’s independence from Australia.
He will always be remembered for the immense contributions he made during his political career in PNG and the Pacific.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
