THE Department of Education will commemorate World Aids Day on Dec 1.
It will involve officers at the headquarters, teachers and students at educational institutions across the country.
Secretary for Education Dr Musawe Sinebare said teachers should involve their students in a variety activities so that they could obtain more information about HIV/AIDS.
He urged the teachers to let students learn  about HIV/AIDS by researching, poem writing, drama, listening to experts on the subject, essay writing and debates.
He said through these activities, students should be able to engage in discussions about the issues and come up with ways to prevent the spread of HIV.
Headquarters staff are organising drama, songs and string band contests.
The theme for World AIDS Day is “Let’s zero HIV in PNG – protect yourself, Protect your families (Yumi pinisim HIV long PNG – lukautim yu yet, na lukautim famili)”.
