Dept to deliver annual work plan

The biggest challenge the National Planning and Monitoring Department will face in 2020 will be to effectively deliver its annual work plan, a senior officer says.
Technical adviser Roger Kara said the department’s 2020 annual plan and targets, corporate mandate and governance and medium and long term corporate strategies would be implemented and reached not without some difficulty given the state of the economy.
Kara made the remarks when giving an overview of the work plan.
“The biggest challenge to effectively deliver the plan is the state of the economy in PNG and how it will support the budget and the warrants,” he said.
“Understanding between all stakeholders needs to happen so that we can deliver on our target areas.
“Research, data and information management is a strong target that we need going forward.
“We will work towards getting all the support necessary to drive these functions within the department, including the results monitoring framework.”
Department secretary Koney Samuel launched the annual work plan.
“We are happy that we have put together our key result areas going forward this year,” he said at the launch which was attended by all department staff and management.
Samuel commended the senior management team and Kara for assisting the team to put together the important working document.
“As the secretary, I am proud that for the first time after a long time, we are able to internally launch our annual work plan,” he said.
“I want all staff of the department to take ownership of this work plan and contribute in your various sectors so that we can deliver on this plan.”
