Development is suffering: Namah

OPPOSITION leader Belden Namah, pictured, says there is good reason why members of the Government caucus are not happy and looking to how soon they can replace Prime Minister James Marape because he is failing the nation and development is suffering.
According to Namah, a press release from the prime minister about his lack of development in Tari-Pori and Hela was not only condescending but misleading the people of his electorate and Hela.
“He has been the elected member for more than 12 years, was finance minister for more than eight years and now prime minister and he says he has done nothing to fund development projects in his district and province,” Namah said.
“As finance minister, he made sure his Tari-Pori district and Hela together with all other districts and provinces in the government received their full district services improvement programme and provincial services improvement programme funds while he underpaid both funds for those of us in the Opposition.
“So what happened to the DSIP and PSIP funds that Tari and Hela received in the last decade? The people of Tari-Pori have the right to ask that very serious question and demand that their local member return to his electorate and work for his people.”
Namah said the prime minister in his press releases talked about having better development sharing formulas but he had no plans.

  • Talk about your vanimo green or brown…have you invested the DSIP/PSIP to show for and doing your chest beating here!

  • We don’t need make unnecessary comments because what the opposition is proposing is a good reason and that is for the betterment of this nation. They know what they are talking about because they are part of the current government and they see what is good and bad things happening. What the opposition leader stating is about how Prime Minister James Marape’s heading will fail this nation in the long run which the future development will suffer as a result. The good example as stated by Namah is about lack of development in PM’s own electorate in Tari-Pori and Hela. Maybe in the future Papua New Guinea will also facing the same problem like currently people in Hela are facing. Without properly managing the affairs of the local people like serving their interest at the local level how will you manage do it at the national level, it’s impossible.

  • Namah, thankyou for encouraging PMJM to take back from Waigani, K500 million from Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited (KPHL) belongs to Hela to develop Tari/Pori.

  • Namah is right. PM should provide the leadership, direction and take action on the many serious issues facing the country. Get his ministers to tow the line, and not do things that destroy investor confidence and economy. For eample the chest undue review of Papua LNG that scared the investors to continue with the project

  • Should Poiya Kama be prosecuted under the cyber law for making such an unethical comments in the social media . I think BN is a very dynamic vibrant and a vocal leader who can provide a compatible guided opposition so that it embraces the Government towards achieving its political aspirations and ambitions of PNG.
